Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine physicians complete three years of residency training, with most programs including rotations on various inpatient and outpatient services. Training in Internal Medicine will prepare you for a plethora of career opportunities in both primary and specialty care. Physicians board certified in Internal Medicine may work as a general internist or hospitalist, or may go on to complete sub-specialty fellowships in various fields, including but not limited to: Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Hematology, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Oncology, Palliative care, Pulmonary & Critical Care, and Rheumatology.
The Vanderbilt Internal Medicine Interest Group serves to develop interest in Internal Medicine among Vanderbilt medical students, as well as expose medical students to the breadth of opportunity within Internal Medicine. We host events to discuss career paths and specialties and to address applying for residency in Internal Medicine.
