Medicine & Business
The Medicine & Business Interest Group was started in April 2012 as a forum under Careers in Medicine (CiM) to introduce medical students to all of the potential career opportunities on the business side of health care delivery. This includes health care finance, economics, policy, operations, and administrative leadership. The opportunities at Vanderbilt can culminate in participation in the dual degree MD/MBA program, though participation in the dual degree program is not at all required for interest in business or leadership in this interest group! Graduates of the MD/MBA program have continued on into a broad range of residency programs with clinical interests in operations, quality improvement & patient safety, cost effectiveness analysis, urban health, and entrepreneurial development in developing countries!
