Plastic Surgery
The Vanderbilt Plastic Surgery Interest Group’s (PSIG) mission is to introduce medical students to the exciting and often misunderstood field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, one of medicine’s most innovative, dynamic and creative specialties. A plastic surgeon works with patients young and old, dealing with the repair and reconstruction of physical defects of form and function. Plastic surgeons routinely manipulate the skin, musculoskeletal system, craniofacial structures, hand, extremities, breast, trunk, and external genitalia to generate unique surgical outcomes that improve patient’s lives. Techniques utilized include the design and application of surgical grafts, flaps, free tissue transfers, microsurgery, implantations, transplantations, and replantations.
PSIG hosts regular meetings where we introduce members to current attendings and fellows. We also organize talks on interesting subjects, and host events like our very popular “Advanced Surgical Skills Workshop.” We look forward to meeting you, and showing you all that Plastics has to offer!
See the Specialties page if you have not yet registered for AAMC CiM.
