My research focuses on geographic and temporal variation in birdsong. I developed software to semi-automate birdsong segmentation and subsequent analysis of song features, enabling large-scale, multi-species analysis of recorded birdsong across decades using citizen science song recordings. I am now using the software to study the migratory and sedentary subpopulations of chipping sparrows in North America as well as the long-term effects of urbanization on birdsong characteristics across multiple species.
