Gene regulatory mechanisms governing erythropoietin (Epo)-induced terminal erythroid differentiation.
I’m interested in how Epo-responsive genes are regulated by enhancers and transcription factors. I plan on using the lab’s established functional genomic approaches, as well as modeling methods, to understand how enhancers and transcription factors work together to reshape the epigenetic landscape in response to Epo. Analyzing the molecular mechanisms behind this dynamic behavior is relevant to the development of better clinical treatments, since human recombinant Epo is used to treat chronic anemia, even though there are serious side effects.
