Lisa grew up in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. For her studies in B.Sc. Biochemistry, she moved to Leipzig. During her time as an undergraduated student, she worked as a research assistant in the group of Prof. Annette G. Beck-Sickinger, where she worked on her bachelor thesis as well.
In 2015 she began her master studies with a major in biomedicine. While studying the M.Sc. Biochemistry she worked as a research assistant at the interdisciplinary centre for bioinformatics. For her master thesis she spent 6 months at Vanderbilt University in the group of Prof. Jens Meiler.
