Yonkyu Jang was born and raised in South Korea before moving to the United States in January of 2008. After three and a half years in boarding school, she enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall of August 2011. There, she earned her BS degree in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science.
Upon graduation, Yonkyu conducted research on DNA double strand breakage and the CRISPR-Cas9 system up until March of 2016. She has broad research interest, which include immunoengineering, genetic engineering, and tissue engineering, and hopes to focus these interests as she earns her master’s degree and continues to do research for the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center.
