Our work ranges from DNA databank studies in our clinical populations to large population-based cohorts with data and biological samples from more than 250,000 participants. <a href=\"http:\/\/medicineandpublichealth.vanderbilt.edu\/center.php?userid=1579214&amp;home=1\">Vanderbilt Epidemiology Center<\/a>\u00a0faculty have more than 80 NIH awards totaling more than $82 million in current funding, with more than $228 million within the Epidemiology Ph.D. Program.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Strong candidates for epidemiology doctoral training at Vanderbilt will have:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>A Master&#8217;s degree in a quantitative discipline (preferably epidemiology or biostatistics) or the equivalent<\/li>\r\n<li>Experience in the conduct of research and independent data analysis<\/li>\r\n<li>Work or research experience that informs their content area interest<\/li>\r\n<li>Strong quantitative preparation and aptitude<\/li>\r\n<li>Interest in application of advanced quantitative methods within a content area<\/li>\r\n<li>Competence in an accepted analytic software package (SAS, STATA or R).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>If Vanderbilt&#8217;s Ph.D. program in epidemiology\u00a0sounds like a good fit for you, we would like to talk with you more about what you are looking for and what we offer.\u00a0<strong>Contact us at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:epi.phd@vanderbilt.edu\">epi.phd@vanderbilt.edu<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<h2><strong>The Fall 2027\u00a0<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gradschool.vanderbilt.edu\/admissions\/application\/index.php\">Application \u00a0<\/a>is now <\/strong><strong>available.<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>Application can be found under &#8220;Biomedical and Biological Sciences&#8221;. The deadline to apply is December 15th annually.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>MD\/PhD Applicants<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>The Epidemiology doctoral program partners with the <a href=\"https:\/\/medschool.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/mstp\/\">Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP)<\/a> for those applicants interested in a combined MD\/PhD pathway. Applications are submitted directly to the MD\/PhD program via AMCAS. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/medschool.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/mstp\/admission-process\/\">MSTP Admissions<\/a> for more information on program requirements and the application process.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<h2><strong>Prospective Student Virtual Interview<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>Each year, approximately 8-12 qualified applicants will be invited to join the Epidemiology Ph.D. program leadership. The virtual interview consists of faculty and research team interviews, informational meetings with program leadership, and an opportunity to visit with current students and program associated faculty.<\/p>\r\n<p>Our virtual interview visit will be held in mid to late February.
