Timeline

October 1

Incoming MD Students  – The CSS Profile becomes available for students interested in institutional need-based funding for the next year. Students that do not receive a merit scholarship are encouraged to go to https://cssprofile.collegeboard.org/ to complete the form.

November 1

Incoming MD  Students – MD students must apply to Vanderbilt through AMCAS by this date to be considered for admission and scholarships for the 24-25 year.

Late December

All Students – The Free Application for Federal Student Aid becomes available for students interested in federal funding for the next year. Students are encouraged to go to fafsa.gov to complete the form.

Incoming MD Students – The first wave of scholarship offers will be communicated via phone call and email.

Early January

Current MD Students –  For the 23-24 school year, the second half of all loans are disbursed for 1st year students on 1/11/24. 2nd year students will have loans disbursed on 1/18/24. 3rd year students will have loans disbursed on 1/10/24. 4th year students will have loans disbursed on 1/2/24. It will then take a few business days to be sent to personal accounts.

All School of Medicine programs but MD – Spring loans are disbursed to student accounts on 1/8/24. It will then take a few days to be sent to personal accounts.

Late February

Incoming MD Students – The second wave of scholarship offers will be communicated via phone call and email.

MID-April

Incoming MD Students – Financial Aid award letters will be sent and available on the portal to admitted students. The award letter will identify all programs for which the student is eligible.

Late May

Returning MD Students – Financial Aid award letters will be emailed and available at yes.vanderbilt.edu.

June

All School of Medicine programs but MD – Financial Aid award letters will be sent to new and returning students on a rolling basis as departmental scholarships are confirmed and FAFSA information is received. Summer loans are disbursed on 6/4/24 unless classes start earlier and an earlier date is requested.

All Incoming Students – Students accepting federal loans should complete the necessary requirements that can be found on the yes.vanderbilt.edu checklist.

Early July

Returning MD Students – aid will be disbursed to student accounts. For 24-25, the first disbursement date for loans is July 1. After disbursement, it will take several business days to be sent to personal bank accounts.

Mid-July

Incoming MD Students – aid will be disbursed to student accounts. For 23-24, the first disbursement date for loans is July 12. After disbursement, it will take several business days to be sent to personal bank accounts.

Late August

All School of Medicine programs but MD – Fall aid will be disbursed to student accounts on 8/23/23.
