Read Gould lab postdoc Sierra Cullati's paper "A bifurcated signaling cascade of NIMA-related kinases controls distinct kinesins in anaphase" in the August issue of Journal of Cell Biology.  This paper shares some of her graduate thesis work from Scott Gerber's lab at Dartmouth. In this paper, Sierra dissects the regulation of kinesins Mklp2 and Kif14 by NIMA-related kinases Nek6, Nek7, and Nek9 that is required for faithful cytokinesis.

We first heard Sierra present this work at her (stellar) post-doc interview and were immediately impressed by her ability to unravel complex signaling pathways and the clarity with which she shared her results. Her paper is further testament to this and is definitely worth a read!
