The goal of my research is to explore resident macrophage populations and investigate whether or not they have iron handling capabilities previously found in adipose tissue. Because the consequences of inflammation can be cell and tissue-specific it is important to uncover the mechanisms between iron handling and macrophage polarization phenotype.
