Blastocyst injection of pluripotent stem cells has been an efficient method to generate chimeric animals. By utilizing blastocyst complementation assay to create interspecific chimeras, we are hoping to gain fundamental knowledge of genetics and signaling pathways involving in mammalian endoderm development, the compatibility of cells from different species, as well as stem cells behavior in their biological niches.
