Virtual Info Sessions and Workshops

Virtual Information Sessions and Workshops

To help you navigate the application process, we are offering a series of information sessions about our graduate programs, and workshops on different aspects of the application. These are open to anyone applying to biology and biomedical graduate programs; you do not have to apply to Vanderbilt in order to attend (although we hope you do!).

All sessions are in Central Time (UTC-6) and are on Zoom. Please check your time zone.

Important Notes:

  • Application fee waivers are not granted for attendance or registration. Please see our Application Instructions page for specific information related to this topic.
  • Permission to record or transcribe these sessions in any form is NOT granted.

IGP/QCB Information Sessions

Join us for information about our first year graduate pathways, the Interdisciplinary Graduate Pathway in Biological and Biomedical Sciences (IGP), and the Quantitative and Chemical Biology Pathway (QCB). Our Director of Recruitment will give an overview, discuss the resources available to our students, and answer questions. Pre-Registration is required. Please join us!

Building a Strong Application for Graduate School

Do you have questions about what to include in your application to biomedical PhD programs, and how to put together the best possible application? We will cover various aspects of the application, focusing especially on recommendation letters and CVs. Pre-Registration in required.

Writing Essays for Biology and Biomedical Graduate School Applications

This workshop will discuss statements for biomedical graduate school applications. How do you discuss your research? How do you approach discussing a challenge? What are components of strong and weak statements? While I will focus on Vanderbilt's IGP and QCB prompt, the tips can be used for almost any statement you will write for graduate school applications. Pre-registration is required.
