Hello! I’m Dhweeja. I’m so glad you’re interested in Vanderbilt University School of Medicine! When I first researched programs, I was struck by the community that Vandy seemed to foster and how friendly everyone was, as well as the small class size. You’ll hear it all the time: you can’t beat the community here. But you also can’t beat the one-year preclinical program and early clinical exposure! We get hands-on experience quickly in our VUSM careers, even through our outside activities like volunteering at Shade Tree Clinic, our free student-run clinic. At Shade Tree, I work with fellow students and patients through our Diabetes Prevention Program, one of our educational services. We also offer primary care for adults, lab testing, screening and diagnostic imaging, nutrition counseling, and social services. We’re strong advocates for our patients and interact with people from all backgrounds, which makes for great training as future physicians as we learn how to care for others under the supervision of awesome faculty. I’d love to tell you more!
Fun fact about me: I love homemade dosa and would eat it for every meal if I had to!
