How did you decide on your specialty?

Ob-Gyn has the ideal mix of surgery as well as primary, longitudinal care. The field provides the opportunity to care for women through some of the happiest as well as most difficult experiences of their lives. There are also plenty of opportunities for advocacy and global health work.

What is the best piece of advice you have gotten from an attending or mentor?

Be humble and listen to your patients.

What is your favorite thing about your Vanderbilt experience?

Working and getting the opportunity to lead Shade Tree Clinic has been such a unique and formidable experience. I appreciated the opportunity to learn advocacy, leadership, and clinic management skills while also giving back to my local community.

What is your best piece of advice for an incoming first year medical student at Vandy?

Keep doing the things that interest you, whether it's reading, writing, playing an instrument, etc, and even try out new hobbies during med school. Wellness is very important to surviving medical school.

What is your favorite memory from the past four years?

All the times hanging out with my med school friends. From pint nights, to Friday dinner and game nights, to all the traveling and hiking adventures, med school has been an exciting adventure with my group of lifelong friends!

Are there any people you want to especially thank for their support and/or guidance during medical school?

Thanks to my family especially my mom, dad, and sister for listening to me and providing me with guidance throughout my time. Thank you also to my loving boyfriend Alex for standing by me without a complaint or doubt throughout the good and challenging times of medical school.
