Vanderbilt University School of Medicine students may opt to participate in multiple clinical rotations, but only 2 will count toward the minimum overall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/catalogs\/kuali\/som-25-26.php#\/content\/67d058c76767e06c732e1d7b\">immersions*<\/a> required to graduate (as competency\/interest-driven rotations). It is necessary that Vanderbilt students rotate at an institution that has an Affiliation Agreement established. A maximum of two (<strong><u>2) four-week away rotations are creditable toward the minimum overall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/catalogs\/kuali\/som-24-25.php#\/content\/6606d6835022a2001ce8b6a2\">immersions*<\/a> required to graduate<\/u><\/strong>. If required, have your letter writer email the document to miranda.l.mclaughlin@vanderbilt.edu and it will be uploaded to your VSLO documents<\/li>\n<li><strong>Updated compliance items<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Annual Renewal Training, BLS, Bloodborne Pathogens Training, and N-95 Mask Fit test. You will need to submit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redcap.vanderbilt.edu\/surveys\/?s=7MFFDKRHP9HH87XF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Form 7100: Petition for Clinical Rotation (Away)<\/a> in redcap for every away rotation you participate in, even if you are participating in more than 2 away rotations. What does that count for?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item9\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading9\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\">Yes, you can complete a family medicine away rotation. It will count towards the immersions required for graduation (competency and interest) but it does not fulfill a primary care course requirement.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/h4>\n<p><div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading10\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item10\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item10\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Does each institution have the same requirements?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item10\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading10\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>\nNot at all! Make sure you visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/services.aamc.org\/20\/vsas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VSLO website<\/a>\u00a0and review the specific requirements of each institution, as well as the date when that institution\u2019s application opens online. If you feel strongly about rotating at a particular school, you\u2019ll want to make sure you\u2019re one of the first applicants. Many schools enroll on a first-come-first-serve basis.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading11\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item11\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item11\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Do I need to notify Student Records when I have an application ready to verify?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item11\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading11\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>\nNo need! Just make sure you assign your documents to the different host institutions to which you\u2019re applying.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading13\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item13\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item13\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>I received an email from Certiphi about a criminal background check. What do I do?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item13\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading13\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>\nMost institutions require a recent criminal background check. When you get that email, follow the steps to process your criminal background check. You will receive a copy of the results you can upload to your VSLO documents.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading14\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item14\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item14\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>The institution is asking about malpractice insurance, good academic standing, etc. How do I provide proof of those things?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item14\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading14\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>\nWe will create a letter for each of you that addresses your expected graduation date, the core clerkships you\u2019ve completed, your various trainings (BLS, ACLS, mask fit, etc.) and your personal health and malpractice insurance. We will upload these letters to your VSLO documents. This will suffice for the institutions\u2019 requirements.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading15\"><h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion\" href=\"#item15\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"item15\"><i class='pull-right fa fa-chevron-circle-down' aria-hidden='true'><\/i>Can I use the Vanderbilt immunization form when I apply?<\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"item15\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading15\"><div class=\"panel-body\"><p>\nInstitutions will either have their own immunization form for you to complete or they will use the standard AAMC form.
