Prenatal Genetics Rotation

The Prenatal genetics rotation offers experiences related to genetic counseling in the reproductive setting including prenatal and preconceptual genetic counseling. The rotation will occur at two primary clinic locations – one in the Center for Women’s Health at One Hundred Oaks and one in the Fetal Center – providing students with a variety of clinical cases including the review of screening options and test results, family history concerns, and abnormal ultrasound findings. The Fetal Center at Vanderbilt is staffed by an MFM and genetic counselor daily offering rich experience with cases including ultrasound abnormalities and high risk pregnancies due to fetal and maternal indications. Additionally, the prenatal clinical service conducts a weekly telemedicine clinic in which students may gain experience with this mode of service delivery.
