The MLI program offers tuition assistance to students who are currently Vanderbilt University (VU) or Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) employees for up to thirty-six semester hours of credit, regardless of whether enrolled in full-time or part-time study. For these students, a majority of their academic tuition and fees will be covered by the program. Generally the program contributes 75% of the tuition due each semester. Students’ supporting laboratories are responsible for contributing 10% of the tuition costs per semester. Finally, students are responsible for contributing 15% of the tuition costs per semester.
For 2017-2018, the standard graduate student tuition rate is $1,477 per credit hour, so MLI students are charged approximately $221.55 per credit hour. As an example, a student who takes a typical load of 12 hours will be contribute approximately $2,658.60 ($1,477 X 12 hours X 15%) to their tuition bill for the entire 2017-2018 year.
Students who qualify for employer tuition benefits through Vanderbilt University or Vanderbilt University Medical Center may choose to claim those benefits to off-set their out-of-pocket costs. Prospective and current students should contact their employer’s benefits office to obtain information about eligibility for benefits, benefit levels and the process to file for benefits.
