Application Deadlines

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all required application materials are submitted to SOPHAS on or before the deadline so they may be considered for admission to the Vanderbilt MPH Program.

Important Information for Applicants

Applications must meet the following criteria on or before the application deadline:

  1. Status of “received” or “verified” in SOPHAS
    Learn about the different SOPHAS application statuses
  2. Three or more letters of recommendation received in SOPHAS
    Applications with fewer than three letters of recommendation received by SOPHAS will not be considered for admission.
  3. Official standardized test score report(s), sent directly from ETS or AAMC to SOPHAS using the correct institution code (GRE: #0111 or MCAT: SOPHAS)

Waivers
– Applicants who have graduated from or are currently enrolled in a doctoral degree program (or equivalent) are not required to submit official GRE or MCAT scores. Examples of doctoral degrees and equivalents include: Ph.D., M.D., D.O., Pharm.D., D.V.M., M.B.Ch.B., M.B.B.S., B.D.S., etc.
– U.S. permanent residents and those who have completed a degree at an institution where English was the language of instruction are not required to submit TOEFL scores.

​Applications submitted in SOPHAS without standardized test scores cannot be considered for admission.

Admission Rounds

Priority Round

Applications submitted in SOPHAS on or before the Priority Round deadline will receive priority consideration for scholarships awarded by the Vanderbilt MPH Program.

In order to be reviewed, applications must have a SOPHAS status of “received” or “verified” in SOPHAS with at least 3 letters of recommendation and official standardized test scores in SOPHAS. Applications submitted by the Priority Round deadline, but missing any of these elements may be deferred to the Regular Round.

Regular Round

All applications must be submitted with all required elements in SOPHAS by the Regular Round deadline in order to be considered for admission. This is the final deadline.

The Vanderbilt MPH Program may have scholarship funds to offer Regular Round applicants, but there is no guarantee. Applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships awarded by the Vanderbilt MPH Program should apply in the Priority Round.
