Vanderbilt MPH Scholarship Fund

When the Vanderbilt MPH Program celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016, alumni, faculty members, students, and friends came together during Vanderbilt Reunion Weekend 2016 and celebrated public health training at Vanderbilt and the accomplishments of over 200 MPH graduates.

The Vanderbilt MPH Program also launched its first endowed scholarship to support MPH students' tuition, practicum, and research expenses. The scholarship fund will allow the most talented graduate students to choose Vanderbilt for their public health training and it will give them the necessary resources to become leaders and innovators in the field. Through donations from committed MPH faculty members and alumni, the Vanderbilt MPH Scholarship Fund has received nearly 70% of the funds needed to provide one full-tuition scholarship to an incoming student.

How to Give

You can easily make your contribution to the Vanderbilt MPH Scholarship Fund by choosing any of the following giving options.

Redirecting Previously Pledged Gifts

  • If you already gave to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), previously pledged gifts may not be redirected to the Vanderbilt MPH Scholarship Fund.

School of Medicine Donor Societies

Contributions to the Vanderbilt MPH Scholarship Fund qualify donors for membership in the School of Medicine's John E. Chapman, M.D. Society. The Chapman Society recognizes financial support to any area of the School of Medicine by those who make annual gifts of $2,500 or more ($1,000 or more for alumni of the past ten years).

Why Give?

Admission to the Vanderbilt MPH Program has become increasingly competitive over the past five years. While the typical class size of the program has doubled, the number of applicants has grown by seven-fold, with 28 applicants in 2011 to nearly 200 in 2016.

The majority of students in the Vanderbilt MPH Program fund their public health training through a combination of scholarships, student loans, and part-time employment.

Scholarships are one of the most effective ways to attract outstanding students to the Vanderbilt MPH Program.

Supporting the MPH Scholarship Fund will help build on the momentum and success that gives Vanderbilt MPH students unmatched opportunities in the classroom as well as mentored research and real-world practicum experiences.
