Daniel grew up in Deland, Florida and after graduating high school enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After 4 years he left the military and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to study chemistry. Here he completed undergraduate research under the supervision of Dr. Brian Cooper establishing methods of chemical derivatization to test the accuracy of a developing GC-MS metabolomics deconvolution software. He currently works under the supervision of both Dr. Richard Caprioli and Dr. Jeffrey Spraggins and his interests are in instrumental development for imaging mass spectrometry.
