Zhen received her BS in ecology and MS in marine biology from Ocean University of China and PhD in chemistry from Northern Illinois University. She joined Schey lab as a postdoc in 2006 in Charleston. Later when Dr. Schey moved to Vanderbilt University, she chose to continue working in Schey Lab. Currently she is a research assistant professor and her research work focuses on qualitative and quantitative analysis of posttranslational modifications of lens proteins and study of protein-protein interactions in lens fiber cell membrane complex as well as characterizing proteome of lipid raft domain in lens fiber cell membrane.
