Members of the Vanderbilt MSTP Leadership Team attended the 2022 Biomedical Research Training Conference Hosted by the AAMC Group on Research, Education, and Training (GREAT) in Chicago, IL September 29-October 1. Dr. Chris Williams said “It was terrific to attend the meeting to network with other directors and staff, and see our Leadership Team partner with other institutions in brainstorming, reviewing, and implementing programming to support the physician-scientist career path. Our LT was well-represented in the program and did a great job sharing our experiences with other programs to elevate physician-scientist training nationwide.” The Vanderbilt MSTP LT presented following:

  • Lourdes Estrada, PhD chairs the AAMC Workgroup on Developing Physician-Scientist Competencies and led a 75 min workshop entitled, MD-PhD program graduate competencies: Mapping expectations to facilitate training
  • Bryn Sierra, MEd, MS presented a poster entitled, Leadership Summit for MSTP Student Committee Leaders
  • Megan Williams, PhD presented  a poster and 5-minute talk entitled, Establishing an Anti-racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Council to support and educate trainees, faculty and staff
  • Chris Williams, MD, PhD led a panel discussion entitled, Understanding How Research in Residency Directors and PSTP Directors Evaluate Applicants
