Please mark your calendars to join our faculty, staff and students from across Vanderbilt to celebrate our accomplishments in educational scholarship. The Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day (HPERD) will feature a keynote address by Bonnie Miller, MD, work from the Great Ideas in Vanderbilt Medical Education (GIVME) awards, medical education projects from the VUSM Emphasis Program, and any scholarly work that was presented at other professional venues. If you wish to participate in the poster presentations, please read below:

Call for Posters

Join Vanderbilt faculty and students to celebrate our accomplishments in educational scholarship in the health sciences.

The Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and the Academy for Excellence in Teaching are currently seeking abstracts for poster presentations related to improving education and training in the health sciences for the Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day (HPERD). If you have presented any educational work at a professional meeting or forum in the past year and would like to showcase your research, please submit your information by completing the online form by Friday, Sept. 20.

Posters will be viewed by an educator panel and awards will be announced after the program in four categories: (1) Simulation Development, (2) Curriculum Development or Evaluation, (3) Professional Development and (4) Educational Research (General).

HPERD will take place on Friday, Oct. 18, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in MCE 8380 A/B. The poster session will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., followed by the keynote address from Bonnie Miller, MD, at noon, oral presentations from past GIVME recipients at 1 p.m., and a continuation of the poster review from 2 - 2:30 p.m. (Applicants need not stay until 2:30 p.m. if not possible, but should be in attendance from 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. and able to leave their posters until 2:30 p.m.)
