The Master of Science (MSMP) and Professional Doctorate (DMP) programs in Medical Physics proudly highlight the academic year 2016-17.
Admissions and Graduation
Professional Doctorate - Three students were admitted, two in the therapy track and one in the diagnostic/imaging track. Four students graduated, three in the therapy track and one in the diagnostic/imaging track.
Master of Science - Two students in the therapy track were admitted and one student graduated in the therapy track.
Three DMP students completed their research capstone projects giving an oral presentation and writing a manuscript in the following topics:
- Various Old and New Metrics for Assessing IMRT Modulation Complexity (Lauren Rigsby, mentor Dr. Adam Yock)
- Implementation of PBS with Apertures on IBA Proteus Gantry (Timothy Bald, mentor Dr. Marc Blakey)
- Pediatric Thyroid Dose in CT and Radiography for Evaluation of Trauma (Andrew Gearhart, mentors Drs. Michael Stabin and Diana Carver)
- Quantitative Comparison of 2.5 MV and 6 MV Image Quality and Verification of PIPSpro Software for 2.5 MV Imaging QA (Derek Fetters, mentor Dr. George Ding)
New faculty joined medical physics during this academic year. Dr. Kenneth Lewis in the diagnostic/imaging track, and Drs. Adam Yock and Michael Price (Vice –Chair of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology) in the therapy track.
Eric Welch’s electronic poster presentation titled, “Stereotactic Radiosurgery Patient Setup Corrections According to Couch Angle and Target Location,” was presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in Denver, Colorado.
