Furniture

Two great places to find a deal on used furniture are the bulletin board in the Student Lounge and the link within the VMS portal. With many graduating medical students leaving and many others changing apartments, the boards often have great prices on an assortment of furnishings. Also remember that Sam’s, Target, and Walmart have good on-line furniture selections. Green Hills Mall has some great furniture stores which are expensive but have a very good variety –Z Gallerie (carries a large collection of paintings also), Restoration Hardware, Pier 1 Imports (outside the mall) and Pottery Barn. Or, if you’ve got a day and want some cheaper furniture, make a trip to Atlanta for Ikea. Be careful about having certain stores ship furniture - sometimes pieces get damaged!

Aaron’s, Inc.

Multiple VMS students recommend this place, which sells used furniture that was previously rented by Aaron Rents and returned. They’re a little out of the way, but they’ve got lots of stuff available in their showroom and in a back room that is filled with returned pieces. Students have gotten couches here for pretty cheap, and they have a full array of bedroom, living room, office and dining room furniture.

Furniture Warehouse

Some students have furnished their entire apartments with furniture from here. It is huge with a large selection. One caveat, though: there is apparently a history of sudden bankruptcies, so don’t leave anything on lay-a-way. All couches are $399 and this place is highly recommended by medical students.
