“Never the same barber twice.” Heads Up offers men’s haircuts for $11 with Vandy ID; women’s are a few dollars more. This place is reported to be good with black hair, though expensive: perms cost $55. Several VMS IIs recommend the salon in Green Hills for highlights that won’t cost so much that you can’t afford groceries for the next week. Drop-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended.

This Paul Mitchell Salon is located near the Green Hills Mall. Voted Best of Citysearch 2009 for highlights, hair extensions, hair straightening, nails. Voted #2 best Nashville hair salon. Definitely a little pricey than other salons- women’s cut and style starts at $60, and men’s cut starts at $35.

An Aveda salon that is located right off of West End Ave. Great customer service. They even offer a 10% student discount. Women’s cut is $51 and men’s is $34.

“Ebonee specializes in natural hair care and braiding. I really like her services. This is good for girls who don’t process (i.e. relax or chemically straighten) our hair and can’t usually find people who deal with natural kinky/curly hair in regular salons. A lot of black girls who want to rock braids could benefit from her too.”

Close to campus, very relaxing atmosphere, open evenings. Stylists are friendly and good at their job. Offers a $20 discount for both you and a friend if you refer them to the salon. Also offers waxing services. Haircuts range from $33-60.

Conveniently located near Vandy (in the same shopping strip as Ham n’ Goody’s). Cut and blow dry is between $35 and $70 for women. Highly recommended by a current VMS II. An Aveda salon.

This is the place where all the country music superstars get their hair done. A bit expensive and the wait for appointments can be lengthy. However, you just might get a bit of gossip about the country music industry or even see a star! $50-62 for a shampoo, cut, and style.
3822 Bedford Ave.
This is where the hospital employees, including physicians and professors, get their hair cut. Cuts are $9 for students. They are located on the 2nd floor of Medical Center North by the snack room. In addition to the cut, this is where you can find out what’s really going on at VUMC! Stop by this warm and friendly place.
“The BEST mani/pedi in town.” Free wine with services. Rarely have to wait for service. Rumor has it Nicole Kidman frequents this salon.

This place has two, nice Korean ladies who know how to cut Asian hair with clippers. Cuts run about $15 for guys. Although it may be a little more expensive than Supercuts, these ladies won’t butcher your hair.
