White Coat Ceremony

The culmination of the Foundations course is the White Coat Ceremony and Convocation. Attire is coat and tie for men and a dress, skirt, or nice pants for women. It is at this time that the Dean will present to you your white coat, the classic symbol of the medical profession. At the end of Convocation, you and your classmates will recite an oath written by last year’s graduating class. Be on time! The program lasts about 35 minutes and will be webcast in case you have family that will not be able to make it. Parents and significant others are invited, and there is a reception following the convocation. From this point onwards you are officially a physician-in-training.
