Vanderbilt-Meharry Annual Pharmacology Retreat

The Annual Pharmacology Retreat brings together a vibrant community of students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty to highlight ongoing research and foster collaboration. The event provides an opportunity to welcome new faculty members and learn about their cutting-edge scientific programs. Student poster presentations showcase research visions, emphasizing future directions and innovative approaches.

For over 20 years, the retreat has been a cornerstone of the Ph.D. program and a hallmark of the longstanding partnership between Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College. Since 2006, graduate students have led the planning of the retreat, including selecting keynote speakers, organizing the program, and coordinating participation from postdoctoral fellows and faculty.

The day begins with presentations from postdoctoral fellows and research faculty with advanced-stage projects nearing publication. After a poster session and lunch, newly recruited faculty present their research programs, accompanied by lively discussions and opportunities for collaboration.

The event concludes with engaging activities, light refreshments, and a social reception at a local venue. This gathering strengthens community, promotes inclusivity, and celebrates the department’s scientific accomplishments.
