Tumors arising from the colonic epithelium follow complex progression patterns involving admixtures of cell types across a spectrum of differential states. Tumor composition and microenvironmental interactions throughout the adenoma-to-carcinoma sequence have not been adequately characterized at the single-cell level. By applying novel machine learning and spatial modeling techniques to scRNA-seq and multiplex immunofluorescence data from human tumor specimens, I hope to build an integrated, systems-level understanding of CRC disease progression.
