The Young lab models metabolic fluxes from isotope tracing experiments. My research focuses on modeling whole body mammalian metabolism to understand the dysfunctions of specific tissues due to manifestations of metabolic syndrome, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Additionally, we study beta cell metabolism to understand the roles of specific genes in metabolism and diabetes.
