Safety, Risk, and Equipment Assessment

Safety, Risk, and Equipment Assessment

Our office supports Basic Sciences through strategic assessment, consultation, and coordination on laboratory and facility-related safety considerations. We conduct equipment feasibility assessments, including reviews associated with S-10 and S-15 grant proposals, and evaluate facility conditions and infrastructure needs that may affect the safe and effective placement or operation of research equipment.

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides institutional safety oversight, monitoring, and risk management. We work in partnership with EH&S on laboratory- and facility-specific matters, connecting research needs, building infrastructure, and institutional safety requirements.

Laboratories remain the primary stewards of safety within their research environments. Our role is to help anticipate potential constraints, identify appropriate pathways, and inform decisions that support safe, compliant, and sustainable research operations.
