At Vanderbilt, medical school isn't all work and no play. Special events are held throughout the year and include:
Orientation kicks off the first academic year and introduces students to the major tasks ahead of them.
White Coat Ceremony, the traditional donning of the signature white garment, marks the official entrance into medical school of the newest VUSM class.
College Cup is an Olympics-style competition that pits the four Colleges against one another in tests of athleticism, intellect, and team spirit. Events include a 5k race, Iron Chef, basketball, soccer, board games, inner tube water polo, volleyball, trivia, dodge ball, and spirit competition. The winning college takes home the Cup and bragging rights for the year.
The annual Cadaver Ball celebrates first-year medical students' completion of gross anatomy. It is orchestrated by the fourth-year class.
Match Day is the crowning moment when thousands of medical students across the country learn where they will take the next step in their medical training: residency.
Graduation takes place each year on the second Friday morning of May.
