Dr. Chevis Shannon

Pediatric neurosurgery researcher. Cook. Aspiring sommelier.

What’s the best thing about being a Research Director?

The best thing about being a RD for me is the opportunity to engage and mentor students. It’s an amazing feeling to see the students you mentor excel and advance.

What’s one research question that has kept you up at night?

Understanding:
1) the impact of neurological disorders on long term quality of life
2) the true cost of healthcare in today’s society (from a health system and patient perspective)

What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t working?

Besides spending quality time with my daughter I love to cook, travel, and refinish furniture

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I would like to become a master sommelier
