Application Process

Applications for the Medical Scholars Program are due each year on February 1.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine then convenes a panel of distinguished biomedical scientists with expertise in the eligible fields of research to review applications. The panel evaluates each applicant’s demonstrated scholarship and promise for future achievement in research. The panel also considers the appropriateness of the designated mentor and the research project for training in the proposed area of research, the quality of the training environment, and the mentor’s stated plans for training the applicant.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine makes the final selection of awardees, taking into account the evaluations of the review panel and the program goals. Awardees receive notification during the first week of April.
