Gautam Rangavajla
Social Committee Chair
My name’s Gautam and I’m a third year at VUSM on the 2018-2019 Wellness Social team! I’m originally from the Columbus, Ohio, area and went to Georgia Tech for undergrad. Medical school is fun and interesting, but also challenging. While I could take my free time for granted in college, that is no longer the case here and I’ve had to be more deliberate in planning time to spend for myself. For me, wellness is about making sure I do the things I want to do so I can be refreshed and ready to do the things I need to do. My wellness time usually involves cycling in Nashville or on the Natchez Trace, experimenting with new recipes or cooking methods, hanging out with friends, or trying new restaurants or breweries. The Wellness Committees have been a large part of this too, and I’ve had fun on brewery tours, paddleboarding on Percy Priest Lake, and monthly social rounds after a long week. These interests and activities are a large part of my life outside medical school and have kept me both motivated and feeling relaxed over the last couple of years.
