Research Intern appointments are short-term, temporary appointments, and as such, neither the salaried nor stipended appointment comes with benefits. We suggest that departments keep a record of proof of health insurance for all interns in their department. If the intern does not have health insurance coverage for the period of the internship, we strongly recommend that the mentor/department provide one.
Early IGP and QCB: All early IGP and QCB students must have health insurance coverage for the summer before their student insurance becomes active. For those students who are not covered under an existing policy during this time, their summer mentor is required to make arrangements for coverage.
A low-cost policy may be purchased through the BRET Office for a maximum of 3 months. Please contact Lindsay Meyers (email@example.com) in the BRET office if you need more information about this.
