Intermediate Spanish for the Medical Profession

Goals: We will review basic vocabulary, grammar and concepts, with a focus on clinical and medical terminology and relevance. The class will incorporate student presentations, discussions and mock medical history interviews. The emphasis will be on key medicinal procedures and cultural competency. Intermediate Spanish for the Medical Profession emphasizes spoken Spanish in the context of the health care provider and the Latino patient, including a comprehensive grammar review and offering extensive vocabulary related to the clinical setting. Cultural issues related to health care and the Latino patient are emphasized.

Prerequisites: Some previous knowledge and/or instruction in Spanish

Lectures: Spring Semester, weekly schedule TBA
