{"id":2448,"date":"2020-03-12T17:18:05","date_gmt":"2020-03-12T17:18:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/vanderbiltmedicine\/?p=2361"},"modified":"2021-08-11T19:35:52","modified_gmt":"2021-08-11T19:35:52","slug":"letter-from-ann-price-md-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medschool.vanderbilt.edu\/vanderbilt-medicine\/letter-from-ann-price-md-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter from Ann Price, MD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Vanderbilt Medical Alumni:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/vanderbiltmedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/02\/price2.tif_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-479\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/vanderbiltmedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/02\/price2.tif_-213x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a>It\u2019s clear that 2019 was a busy year for the Vanderbilt Medical Alumni Association (VMAA). We made a concerted effort to increase our presence and support for our VMAA specialty societies at numerous national conferences including ACOG, ACC, ACS, AANS, RSNA, ASPS, ENDO, and ID-week among others. In addition, we held a regional event in conjunction with the AAMC conference in Austin and regional dinners in San Francisco, Palo Alto, California, Baltimore, Columbia, South Carolina, and Cincinnati. We express our deep appreciation to our regional medical alumni hosts: James Mark, MD, (Palo Alto); Robert Gotcher, MD, (San Francisco); Jim Chow, MD, (Columbia, South Carolina); and Mariana Belvedere, PhD, and Samer Hasan, MD, PhD (Cincinnati). We greatly enjoy going \u201con the road\u201d to visit our medical alums across the country. Don\u2019t hesitate to contact me if you are interested in learning more about hosting a regional event for your area.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, each year the VMAA supports a number of student and house staff-oriented events. On the student side of our membership, the VMAA served as a sponsor for our student-led Shade Tree Trot (5k), VMS III\u2019s Parent\u2019s Weekend, VMS I\u2019s White Coat Donors celebration, the VMS II\u2019s \u201cYou\u2019re Halfway There Party,\u201d the annual AOA inductions, and we co-hosted with the Office for Health Sciences Education our 17th annual VMAA Almost Alumni &amp; Faculty appreciation luncheon for the VUSM graduating class. Many thanks to all of our medical alumni who served as hosts and mentors for the Class of 2019. On the VUMC side of our membership, we welcomed our incoming house staff at the VUMC house staff orientation picnic, sponsored house staff \u2018nights out\u2019 with the Nashville Sounds and with Vanderbilt men\u2019s basketball and provided refreshments and luncheons for a number of house staff initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>VUSM Reunion 2020 is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, to Saturday, Nov. 7, in conjunction with Vanderbilt University\u2019s Reunion\/Homecoming weekend.
