The office of Facilities, Infrastructure, Research IT & Risk Management (FIRM) is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the facilities and infrastructure across Vanderbilt University (VU), Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), and off-campus locations that all School of Medicine Basic Sciences (SOM BS) occupy.

F.I.R.M provides comprehensive support for the S.O.M. Basic Sciences with a focus on the following areas:

  • Renovations & Repairs: Ensuring the upkeep and enhancement of our physical spaces.
  • Facility Renewals: Managing the long-term viability of facilities through proactive renewals and upgrades.
  • Capital Assets: Overseeing the management of major building systems and infrastructure assets.
  • Space Surveys: Conducting regular assessments to optimize space utilization and planning.
  • Information Technology (IT): Supporting IT infrastructure that aligns with facility needs and operations.
