Research in the Karijolich lab is directed at the intersection of nucleic acid biology with human health and disease. Main areas of investigation are: 1) Defining the regulation of nucleic acid sensing during infection and oncogenesis, 2) Transcriptional regulation of immune responses, and 3) Strategies of antiviral immunity. Our work is multidisciplinary, and combines mechanistic RNA biochemistry, immunology, virology, and high-throughput sequencing and proteomic approaches.
The lab is within the Division of Molecular Pathogenesis in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. We are also affiliated with the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
