Another VISP student awarded American Heart Association fellowship!

Gokhan Unlu, a 4th year VISP student in Cell and Developmental Biology, has been awarded an American Heart Association Fellowship in support of his research project.

This is a predoctoral fellowship that will support Gokhan's project for 2 years (Jan 2015 - Dec 2016).  The project focuses on COPII-dependent trafficking of collagen and fibronectin to promote heart repair.  Gokhan is working in Ela Knapik's lab and they will be collaborating with Antonis Hatzopoulos' lab for this project.

Gokhan is the third VISP student to be awarded an AHA Fellowship since the inception of the program.
