Isabel Guerrero Montero

Name: Isabel Montero
Country: Spain
Mentor: Kathleen L. Gould, Ph.D.

I will be beginning my final year of my biotechnology degree next year in University of Pablo Olavide in Seville. As an undergrad student I had the opportunity to work as an intern in a lab of Embryonic Muscular Development for a few months in the CABD (Developmental Biology Center of Andalusia). After which I was selected to participate in the VISRA 2014 program as a summer intern working in Dr Kathleen L. Gould's lab, researching the yeast CK1 homologous in Pombe yeast. I find the experience of working full time in a laboratory to be very rewarding and motivating, and I wish to continue doing research in genetics in the near future after I graduate. I have learned many things during my short stay here and would recommend the program to everybody.
