Linh Trinh

VISRA Intern, Hatzopoulos Lab

Hello! My name is Linh Trinh and I come from Vietnam. I have just completed my Bachelor program of Biotechnology and Pharmacology at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).

During the time at USTH, I gained a lot of interests in Biomedical field, particularly in regenerative medicine. Hence, before continuing to study further, I hoped that I could gain more knowledge and experience in this field, as well as have a closer look on PhD students’ life at Vanderbilt and in the US. If you share the same motivations, then VISRA program is the perfect answer that you are looking for.

I am now working at the lab of professor Antonis Hatzopoulos. We are trying to investigate the effects of Gremlin 2, an antagonist of BMP signaling pathway, on cardiovascular cells after myocardial infarction. We hope that the application of Gremlin 2 can help to reduce excessive inflammation and improve the recovery of the heart from attacks.

Besides, during the two months, there are also a lot of exciting activities that can help you the explore Nashville as well as sharing culture between members coming from different parts of the world. We went to the Escape game and had a lot of fun there.
