Hi. My name is Nilay Taneja and I'm from Dehradun, India.
I have completed my integrated Master's in Biotechnology from Dr. D. Y. Patil university in Pune, India. For my thesis research, I worked on the DNA damage response machinery of E. coli at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. I've also worked as a summer intern at the NRCPB, IIT Bombay and University of Lausanne, Switzerland over my summers, with project themes spanning from plant genomics to immunology.
My primary research interest is in cancer biology and biochemistry, although any interesting question in the breath of science attracts me! Outside the lab, I like to listen to and play music. I also love traveling, hiking and reading.
The IGP program offers the flexibility and breadth of research topics I am looking for. I'm really excited to be joining Vanderbilt and being in Nashville!
