Gregor Konar

Graduate Student, Biological Sciences

Greg’s research interests include the retina and the mechanisms underlying development and repair of the photoreceptor layer. Greg’s thesis project focuses on the role of the RNA binding protein PTBP1 in retina regeneration and its potential role in inflammation mediation during the regeneration process. This project will be conducted in both zebrafish and mice to provide comparative analyses in organisms with endogenous regenerative potential (fish) and those without the ability for spontaneous regeneration of cells/tissues (mice).
