BioCentury, a global business intelligence company serving the biopharmaceutical industry and investors, is seeking a Biopharma Analyst to create written content analyzing trends, breakthroughs, challenges and opportunities related to innovation in drug development and the forces shaping the industry

KEY JOB OBJECTIVE

The analyst will work within the Editorial group to create value-add intelligence on innovation in drug development, focusing primarily on critical topics in translation, clinical trials, biological targets and pathways, and regulatory science. The analyst will also cover public and private financing, M&A and deal activity, and global policy issues on these innovation trends. Applicants with strengths in scientific analysis who are less familiar with the business aspects of biotech are welcome, but must be interested in learning this and building expertise from day one.

Analysts must be fluent in data analysis and capable of generating data-driven content, able to generate their own charts and graphics, and produce content with fast turnaround times. They must be comfortable working in a team environment to exchange views, accept editorial feedback and contribute ideas.

All analysts are expected to develop original points of view, build deep and extensive networks of sources, carry out research projects, and pitch proposals for analysis pertinent to our audience’s business decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Write analytical content, generally ranging from 250 to 2,500 words, as the need requires.

Key coverage includes:

  • Innovation in drug development, from new science to clinical trials
  • Top trends and breakthroughs emerging from sponsored clinical studies, major science conferences, and other sources
  • Analysis of preclinical data from company and academics presentations and publications, science conferences and other sources
  • Interpreting regulatory science, analyzing how it affects company strategy, and identifying critical initiatives at FDA, EMA, MHRA and other regulatory agencies
  • Emerging company profiles

Additional areas of coverage include:

  • Finance, partnering deals, M&A and cross-border transactions
  • Policy and geopolitics affecting IP, drug pricing, deal-making and other factors
  • Global biotech ecosystems and emerging hot spots

Analysts are expected to work with editors to map our content calendar, develop story ideas and grow editorial expertise in emerging areas of relevance to the biopharma industry. They will also represent the company at BioCentury and other conferences, contributing as needed to development, speaker selection and recruitment, and moderation of panels or fireside chats.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in biomedical science, finance or business analytics
  • Experience generating original content, via reports or articles, for a knowledgeable scientific or commercial audience
  • Ability to develop a network of contacts among opinion leaders, innovators and other experts
  • Experience integrating, analyzing and presenting data from complex databases an advantage
  • Familiarity with sources such as ClinicalTrials.gov, EDGAR, Orange Book, Red Book, PACER or PubMed is an advantage

This is a full-time remote position and can be based in the U.S. or Canada and requires working across multiple time zones with stakeholders or staff throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Expected annual salary range is $70K – $90K.

  • All BioCentury employees are obligated to meet the highest standards with respect to accuracy, conflict of interest, intellectual property rights, slander, confidentiality and respect for information sources and our audience.
