
Howard Curlin, MD
Assistant Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Curlin is a Tennessee native. He received his M.D. degree from East Tennessee State University and went on to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Hawaii at Tripler Army Medical Center. He practiced in multiple Army medical environments, including community hospitals, academic centers, and Iraq over the next seven years. He then completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Vanderbilt from 2010 to 2012. He resumed Army academic medicine until leaving Active Duty in 2015 when he returned to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Besides his interest in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, Dr. Curlin has a particular interest in medical education and the incorporation of simulation into that process. Outside of work he can usually be found doing something outdoors with his wife, Michelle, and six children.
