Basic Science Educators

MISSION

The Basic Science Educators’ contributions are essential to the academic mission of the school including: 

• To be national leaders in graduate and medical education innovation
• To educate the next generation of leaders, innovators, scientists, and physicians 
• To enhance the diversity and inclusion of the learning environment

ROLES

We play multiple roles including: 

• Curriculum design and implementation using competency-based education framework
• Evidence-based curriculum quality improvement
• Program evaluation
• Learner assessment
• Course directors and instructors
• Contributions to T32 awards with courses and various expertise
• Design and implementation of faculty and staff development programs
• Student mentoring and advising 
• Dissemination of innovations through scholarship, publications, and presentations internationally, nationally, and locally
• Integration of technology
• Outreach
• Interdisciplinary approach (e.g., arts and science)
