Join or Start a Student Organization

With a multitude of student organizations at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, it’s easy to find one that is right for you. We encourage students to get involved and make a difference during their time at Vanderbilt. The Council of Class Officers is the umbrella student organization for all student groups.

How to Join a Student Organization

Almost all student organizations are open to the entire student body. To join an organization, email the contact person to find out dates and times that the organization meets. View the Anchor Link Directory for School of Medicine Student Organizations.

How to Start a New Student Organization

Thank you for your interest in starting a new organization! The Council of Class Officers strongly believes in the importance of student organizations to student life, and seeks to maintain the most exciting, diverse, and current groups on campus.

Steps to get a student organization started

  1. Please review the current list of student organizations and evaluate the possibility of collaborating with existing organizations to meet your needs.
  2. Submit your proposed mission as well as a schedule of proposed events and an estimated budget for the next academic semester to the fourth year class president.
  3. The class presidents will review your materials and make a recommendation to Dean Amy Fleming, Dean of Student Affairs. Once your proposal is accepted, you will receive instructions on how to formally register your organization and request funding.
